o.k., I did some checking and haven't noticed a thread comparing the 1500 to the 2500...is it just that the 2500 is more powerful, or are there more substantial differences I haven't read about? Any help is appreciated (itching to buy ONE of them!!!) Thanks.

The V2500's main difference is that it has features to better be used in a multiroom system.

And a bit more rated power too.

Other than that, they are identical.

No, they aren't identical.

http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/compare/receiver_20.htm

You'll notice the Addition of the subwoofer phase select, continous fan mode, SCHOTTKY BARRIER DIODE, an extra compoent input, the Extra Zone stuff mentioned above (including the ability to have a Zone 2 video), YPAO memory presets, faster more accurate YPAO, Allows PEQ adjustments, Illuminated remote, additional DSP's, etc.

Also, the OSD is completely different and much better on the 2500.

I'm not saying any of this makes it "better" for you, but these are the major differences. They are *NOT* the same receiver as insinuated above.

Ooops, my mistake. There are some differences I wasn't aware about and others I forgot about (namely the improved YPAO which is the real significant difference IMHO)

Maybe I should shut up now :)

...and the 2500 has 15,000 microfarad caps, the 1500 has 10,000 micofarad caps.. Better dynamic headroom.

In plain english - ditto on above that the amp section is better in the 2500.

Congrats from one happy owner to another

Congrtas on your purchase. I have a RX-V2500 and could not be happier. I have a relativly small room with some excellent speakers, 4 Mirage Omnisats, an Omni CC from Mirage and a Velodyne DLS-3750R. I had (Still have it in the bedroom) a Kenwood HTiB in my HT room before. A really great ear test I have done is walking back and forth from my HT room to my bedroom with the same music channel or radio station on and what an incrdible difference. The Kenwood (Hey, I only paid $196.00 for the whole system, less than just one of my satalites) sounds so cheap and boxy compared to the incredible sound I get from my new system.

The RX-V2500 is an awesome receiver and it does everything I need, and has many more capabilities as well. You will not be dissapointed.
