I have 3 noob questions regarding the rx-z9. I have tried to figure the answers out short of RTFM:
1: I understand that Pure Direct (by reading Gene's review) that it does not push data thru the sub channel. I found this is true in 2 channel stereo mode as well?? is there no menu to correct this?? Sub Outs came along way before home theater, so I have no idea why it wouldn't send data to the sub out!! Is there a menu I'm missing!!!
2: When I learn other remotes. The learned unit's work fine via selecting the sources, however I am unable to bring up the rx-z9 menu anymore.. no matter how many times I hit menu (regardless of which source I'm on) It will not control the rx-z9. I also noticed that the volume on screen doesn't work sometimes (which i'm guessing is because it can't work with a high def signal)
3: My TV only has component Inputs. I would like to purchase a pioneer elite 59avi which upconverts dvd signals. If I send that signal via ilink to the yamaha (which doesn't upconvert dvd) will the yamaha pass the upconverted signal via component. (I'm guessing the answer is I need to buy a new monitor) because the rx-z9 is not designed to do dig/analog conversion..
