I've run into an oddity with my new 3900 that seems confusing. Can anyone shed light on this?

I have my Comcast Motorola 6412 STB connected to the 3900 via component, with the STB's output set to 1080i. The HDMI output of the 3900 feeds the DVI input of my Panasonic TH-50PH6UY. If I have the 3900's Analog -> HDMI setting on "Through" (the default), I get a narrow strip of picture on the left of the display, with multi-colored static on the middle and right sides. If I set the 3900's Analog -> HDMI setting to "Processing", I get a complete picture. In both cases the 3900's status display shows

HDMI Resolution: 1080i@60 -> 480p@60

with "HDMI Message" "Out of Resolution" on the following lines of the status display, and a definitely non-HD picture.

With my Panasonic DMP-BD55 connected (via HDMI) to the 3900, the 3900's status display does show 1080i@60 -> 1080i@60.

In both cases the Monitor Info screen shows the following:
Interface: DVI
Video Resolutions:
480i/576i: ---
480p/576p: ---
1080i: ---
720p: ---
1080p: ---

I'm guessing that something besides "---" should be displayed here? Is the 3900 confused regarding the capabilities of my display?

The 3900 is running the latest (1.04) firmware.
