RX-V3900 loses signal?

Okay, am I missing something, again? I was watching a video in the VCR, which is connected with a composite cable, the picture would go out for a few seconds every once and a while and then the HDMI 1 on the TV would light up and the picture would return. It did this several times throughout the movie. The day before, my son was using the front input jacks, which is also composite, to connect his XBOX, he said the picture went off the TV on him, I asked him to explain what happened, but he is 14 and "I don't know" is what I got. We didn't change any settings, we plugged it in and he started playing.

Do I need to run a Composite cable to the TV because there is an issue with the conversion?

Thanks

Sounds like a compatibility problem. Going from composite to HDMI, your TV has a a rough time to lock up the video signal, probably because of the delay with the upconversion. Try to turn your TV OFF and then ON again.
Or swith inputs (source from your TV) and back to your original source.

And your video setups from your 3900 have to be properly set, in the video menu setup from your receiver. Check in your manual for this particular case of yours.

I'm sure more people will chime in with more solutions, and perhaps with the exact right one for you.

Until then, try these ones from me. :)

You're very welcome my friend. :)

And if one of these solutions won't do, just come back and we'll see what we can do. Come back anyway to let us know, even if it works for you, and what did fix it exactly, so we know, and can help others with a similar problem. ;)

Cheers,

Bob

okay, I set the receiver to allow the signal to pass through without any conversion. No problems. I will keep playing with it and see if I can get it to do upconversions without problems.

Sounds good, and remember to disable any CEC or RIHD (you know, that crazy feature from Compatible Components that permits the Connections from HDMI cables to be Controlled with your receiver).

* Signals pass through = best way to do.
But your 3900 has the better video processor (ABT-2010), so, it should do fine at upconverting.

Keep in touch & have a great day, :)
