GREETINGS ALL,
I'M READY TO BUY THE YAMAHA RX-V3300 RECEIVER. I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR REVEIWS, BUT CAN'T FIND ANY. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY? ANY IDEA WHEN THIS MODEL CAME OUT? THANKS IN ADVANCE

I have the RX-V3000. The 3300 is nice because they put back the 2 effect channels (what were they thinking with the 3200
) which I enjoy (you'll need a couple more speakers though - and the room to place them on the wall)

HDTV component switching, 130W/ch, and a great remote control. Weighs 2# less than my 3000, though - wonder what they removed...

A good receiver for the price. Highly recommended. Z1 is better, but FAR more expensive.

hello again,
Thank you Hawke & Yamahaluver for the input. I've decided after listening and noticing how close the 3300 is to my 3090 to pick it up last nite. I was blown away. I paid double that for the 3090. Its amazing to realize how quickly tech./ prices trickles down to what seems( to me ) a far superior unit. I probably would have stayed / my 3090 if it had DTS and ALL imputs for sacd, dvd-a, and whatever else comes along. The 3300 seems to have better imaging and steering also ( to me ) I'm still very mystified as to why a great unit doesn't have the raving reveiws I'm seeing / other units offering less !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had totaly forgotten that hawke has this excellent receiver for a long time and is the best person to give you a review of it first hand.

Thankfuly, electronics including PCs and HT are getting cheaper and more affordable by the day.

the question in my last post was directed to hawke!

Actually, I have the RX-V3000. Very similar (weighs a couple more pounds...)

I've had it for over two years now and it has brought me nothing but pleasure. Though I am using a Sherbourn 7/2100 amplifier with it, essentially relegating the Yamaha to a pre-pro, its amplifier section worked well for me up until I bought the Sherbourn.

It is smooth and warm. Compared to other receivers in its class I found it to be a good match for my (at the time) B&W speakers. Now that I have an Epic 80 system, it sounds even better.
