RX-V2700 PC Connect -- Bleah!

Anyone have success with the PC Connect feature of the Yammy 2700?

Basically, everything is functioning (I think)

-Yamaha connected to network -- Check. Cat 5 cable to switch, and the router has assigned an IP.

-WMP 11 dowloaded and installed -- Check.

-Hard drive being "shared by network" -- Check.

-WMP11 "sees" RX and has allowed sharing for said device. -- Check.

-Music ripped to compatible format. --Check. All songs in WAV (MP3 and WMA too lossy for me for home use) 500+ albums and counting.

The issues occur during navigation. Navigation is clunky and slow, a minor annoyance, but sometimes the list will "disappear", ie. the display will suddenly become "0/0" indicating zero folders/zero files. Backing out of the menu a level or two seems to restore the list, but sometimes can take several tries.

Frustrating

Anyone have any dealings with this and if so, any solutions?

I was reading about drives needing to be FAT16 or FAT32, but it seems applcable to usb devices directly connected to the RX.

Help!

I agree, the partition format should not matter. The Yamaha does not directly access the HD, it accesses through Media Player.

I have not seen the 0/0 issue. But I have not played extensively with this feature. And yes, the interface does seem clunky. In fact the whole net/usb interface with the sliding source switch seems clunky.

try using windows media player 10 and the windows media connect software instead, that may give you better luck.

I havent had that problem ,but I ran into something recently . I took Norton out ,and installed ShawSecure . Well I lost communication ,and found out I had to configure my Fire Wall in my anti virus software.
I don't know if this is going to help ,just thought it would be interesting to disable your Virus protection and firewall's and see how it behaves
