RX-V2600 If TV Has No HDMI Inputs?

I have a Mits WS-55807 (1080I only, no 720p) that does not have HDMI jacks. I currently receive HDTV signals through a Motorola DCT 6412 III DVR via component video cables (Cox cable). Like most everyone, I'm hooked on HD and saw this receiver as a way make everything HD-like, but the more I read, it appears that the upscale option is only output via HDMI. And upon further review it appears that the 2600 will only upscale an unscaled signal. The DCT 6412 sends all non 1080i signals in 480p or 480i. If I choose the 480i option, will the 2600 upscale them? I have seen HDMI to component converters for sale on the internet, are these any good? If you use one what happens to the audio signal?

I'm all confused, can anybody provide me with some direction?

My boss has a mitsu TV without HDMI as well. He mentioned that for some models, you can buy a mitsu-installed HDMI upgrade for some of the older TVs. You might try calling tech support to see if this is true.

Mits does make what they call a Promise Module but it costs a grand to purchase and install.

Does your Mits have a DVI input? If so, just convert the HDMI to DVI.

No DVI, just component for HD. It also has HD inputs for H & V whatever those are.

Mits TV and RX-V2600

I have a Mits TV (5 yrs. old) also with the RX_V2600. I have two Direct TV Tivos that use S-Video 480i output. I also have 3 Sony 400 disk DVD players that output Component 480P (they can also upscale to 1080i).

My Mits does not have HDMI. So no upscaling to HDMI needs to be done. The Tivos input the S-Video 480i and the Yamaha converts (conversion) to 480P and outputs to the Component Out. The DVP players use the 3 Yamaha Component Inputs (for switching) and output the Component Output.

It seems the Yamaha does a good job with the Tivo 480i to Component 480P as the Mits TV itself did a very poor job. I was using a standalone scaler (DVDO) between the Tivos and the Mits and the Yamaha seems to do the same quality conversion. It seems that when I put the Mits into 480P display, the Tivo conversions looks slightly better than when I have the Mits in the 1080i mode. But you will have to check yours.
