RX-V2500 Zone 2, 3 lights

Does anyone with the Yamaha RX-V2500 have any info on how to keep the Zones 2 and 3 lights on the front display from reappearing each time I power up the unit? I know I can turn off Zone 2 with the front panel button. And, I have gone thru the procedure on the remote to change 2000 to 2001 and disable both Zone 2 and Zone 3 that way. However, each time I turn the unit off and then back on at a later time, Zone 2 and Zone 3 both light up on the front display in red letters.

Does anyone know why this is and how to keep them disabled? Do I need to disable them? Do they draw power down from my main room even in my case where I am not using Zone 2 and Zone 3? HELP.....

If you turn the system on/off with the power button on the face of the unit, this will happen. If you use the remote to power the unit on/off the zone2/zone3 will retain their previous powered state (either on or off). There is no way to keep them disabled while using the power button on the face of the unit. As far as drawing power from the main area, do you even have anything hooked to zone2/zone3. If not, I wouldn't worry about it (I never do with my 2500).

Really, the zone 2/3 lights stay on when you use the power button on the front of Yammies with Zones?

Hmm...that seems rather stupi if you ask me.

Yeah, I think it is really stupid too. I also think this is why there is now a button under the flip down door on the 2600 to control the individual zones. Surely Yamaha has corrected this on the 2600 as well. If I turn zone 2/3 off I want it to stay off no matter how I power the unit on.

you guys were right. after confirming with yamaha and fiddling with it myself, i have confirmed how to keep zone 2 and 3 off, as someone posted herein. you go thru the procedure with the remote to power zones 2, 3 off. then, leaving the remote in "2001" mode, only use the remote to power on/off the unit. if you use the main switch on front of the unit, it turns everything back on, including zones 2, 3 even thought they were previously disabled. thanks for the help.
