RX-V2500 Yamaha issues...

Just purchased a Yamaha RX-V2500 and I am having some problems. First according to manual I am supposed to be able to adjust/tweak the bass/treble tones centered around certain freq's by using the front panel display to do so rather than having it hooked to a tv/monitor which I don't as of yet. When I go to the parameter via remote control and get to where I need to be it won't let me adjust those frequencie areas. It sends me back to the main category. Secondly, I set the fan to Cont(continuous)mode and powered off then back on. Again, according to manual it is supposed to remember this setting. No fan!? I feel very confident in what I am doing but can't get these things to work/function correctly. I'll admit this is my first A/V receiver. I have always owned 2ch stereo equip and nice stuff I might add. Also, When I turn the receiver on the zone 2, zone 3 light up in the display. I don't want that. Can't understand how to get rid of it. Pressing Pure Direct gets rid of them but I think there is a way to not have them come on at all. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Do a search on the zone 2/3 thing, the solution was posted here a couple of weeks ago. I have mine hooked up to a TV to use the OSD, so I can't help you with adjusting it any other way.

I'm having trouble calibrating the multichannel input. The player is the European version of the Pioneer 59AVi.

When I use the player's test tones, the one for the LFE is unusually low. To make sure it wasn't a player problem, I switched the center and subwoofer connections, so that the center test tone went out the sub and vice versa.

I noticed this when I played the fishtank-tapping scene on Finding Nemo. Using the player's digital out, the bass shook everything. Using the multichannel outs, it was merely a purr.
