RX-V2500 & Remote After Activating Zone 2

Hello,

I've been lurking for a while, and have enjoyed reading through the wealth of information here. I've done a search on this, but I can't find exactly what's going on and what to do.

I've just purchased an RX-V2500 and finished installing last night. I had been using a 14 yr old Kenwood A/V (8540) I purchased in 1991, so needless to say the jump in technology is amazing.

Well, on to my problem. I used the search function to finally figure out how to activate the Zone 2 using Yamaha's internal amp. Now I'm finding when I turn zone 2 & zone 3 off, the remote control will not activate amp features such as volume +/-, standby, power off, etc. When I re-activate zone 2, I can change volume, but only for zone 2. I'm having a heck of a time figuring out how to gain control of the unit with the remote for use in my main listening area. I'm sure it's a setting somewhere, but like I mentioned above, the complexities of the new generation receivers is amazing. I'm sure it will take weeks for me to discover all the intracacies of the rx-v2500.

Thanks in advance. Kevin

Hi Kevin..
Ive upgraded from a Kenwood KRF-V8010D so I can understand what your saying..
Ive only got the 1500, though have spent a bit of time getting friendly with the whole thing.
With my remote (somewhat different to yours) there is an up and a down button by the LCD. you have to scroll back on those buttons for the LCD to say "SYSTM" or a word similar and it will give you control of Zone 1/Main again.
scroll it back to Zone 2 for control of that area again..

My wife loves that we now only have 1 remote, though her patience is running thin with how complicated it is..

I was running our outside speakers on "Speakers B" on the kenwood, no I have my fromt's BiWired via the speaker B output so Zone 2 is now outside.

Hope that helps .

Thanks, Aaron. I found my problem last night. I was using code "2003" for the amp which for some reason would allow me to disengage zone 2, but not reengage control of the main system. I changed the code to "2001" and now everything is working great. It's definitely going to take a while to learn the "ins and outs", but I'm going to have fun while I'm doing it. :D
