I appreciate the replies on this one as well. I am/was in the same boat (agonizing over newer receivers with crazy-cool features and the wise member advice that receivers are "disposable" / it's better to buy last year's model used). I think after much research I fall into the latter camp as well though I am still tempted by the new ones!
I think this thread just sealed it for the RX-V3900 or perhaps even the RX-V1900. Once more, reliability ratings on CNET, ZDNET, Amazon, appear positive (all but 2 reviews were fair/good but the reviewers were fussing about things that didn't seem issues to me).
That's another nice thing about buying a model that's been out for a bit. You get to sort of check reliability / failure rates from those who are kind enough to post reviews. I was going to purchase a used Marantz but saw a few models with failure problems - nothing against Marantz, I just got tired to trying to research which ones were which.
Totally off subject, but now if I can just decide on a WIFI interface for Internet Radio (so the wife can listen to KLOVE), perhaps the "Myine Electronics IR001 WiFi Internet Radio Adaptor"... This would be with the 1900 of course.
