Running Wire in Attic

I've got my four surrounds installed in the ceiling, now I need to run the speaker wire. I bought some 12 gauge cl2 from mono price.

I can either run it in the interior wall which is close to an electrical socket, but the electrical outlet is on the other side of a stud. The problem is that it is by the eves of the house and there is only about 10" max above the wall stud that needs to be drilled out and I'm not sure but there is probably fireblocks.

The exterior wall has the same problem but not electrical outlet. What do you guys think?

If the socket and it's feed wire are both on the other side of the stud you'll be fine.
If not, keep the speaker wires on the opposite side of the stud cavity. That will give you almost 16" of separation.

Drill a hole in the top plate, and test for fire block with a snake; maybe you don't have it.
Put a piece of tape on the snake, at a certain distance; (i.e 8 ft) if you go past that mark, you don't have blocking.
It also helps as a gauge as to how much snake you've fed into the wall.
