<font color='#000000'>I have never done it but you can plug a computer into your receiver &amp; upgrade the software in it when upgrades become available. Im not sure of all that is possible to upgrade.</font>

RS232C port

It is used to upgrade the software for future surround sound formats to include additional discrete channels and options.
It is also used to remotely control the reciever from a Laptop or desktop computer or touch screen display control panel such as CRESTRON or AMX which cost about $1,000. Keep in mind you disable the IR when you enable that port, but I plan to put mine in a closet anyways.
Can anyone help me with the communication protocol so I can communicate to it and control it with a Laptop?
