RP CRT TV and upconverting DVD players

I have a Hitachi CRT RP TV (46F500), it has a DVI connection along with Componet video connections. My question? Are these kind of tv's compatible with the new upconverting DVD players? Or do they only work on pexel type tv's (by the way my tv is HD ready)?

Thanks

Upconverting DVD players only are supposed to output over the digital connection, typically HDMI. Your TV shoud allow for this to work by putting in a HDMI->DVI converter and using your set's DVI connection and setting the output of the DVD player to 1080i.

If I were you, I would get it at a store that accepts returns just in case you do run into any issues at all.

Keep in mind that there are DVI-HDMI cables available. A converter or adaptor isn't necessary if you allow the cable to do the work.
My setup is upconverting player dvi out to Hitachi f59 hdmi in.

Read up on upconverting players before buying. They are not created equal and a good number (including some major name brands) are not too great.
Having said that, a good upconverting player is wonderful and is much nicer than a progressive scan player.

I noticed a major improvement when I switched to the upconverting player on my JVC from an older progressive scan. Run the HMDI to DVI cable and you'll be fine. As stated above, make sure to research it a bit to get your best bang-for-buck!
