Rotel, Yamaha, Denon

All-

I currently have a Yamaha RX-V2600, but it does not work with my HDTV due to HDCP errors. I saw that Denon has a receiver out, the 3806 and does 1080P HDMI :) . Should I consider the 4306? Also, Rotel introduced the 1057 with HDMI and looks to be a very classy receiver. I am so turned around with all these and am looking for some guidance. My local HT store allows me to return the Yamaha and apply it to a new purchase, so not worried there.
For speakers, I have Paradigm Monitor 5s, Mini Monitors, the CC-370, and a JBL 12" sub.
Any help on this would be great.

since you can return stuff at no cost to you ... why don't you try them both ... the 1057 rotel I believe is still 5.1 (it can be 7.1 if you add an external amp)

Go with the Rotel if you can swing the money. It's a better sounding unit, but you will pay for it. Rotel also needs an external amp for 7.1 surround sound, but most don't have room for 7 speakers.

I have a Denon 4806 for my dedicated home theatre and a Rotel RX-1052 for my home stereo system. Both components do their respective jobs flawlessly and performance is top notch. I wouldn't hesitate with either one. The main reason I did not purchase the Rotel receiver for my HT was the lack of converting to 7.1 without using another amp. Also, the Denon has a few more features i like.

Either way though, I think you'll be happy.

Stay away from Yamaha unless of course you want a dirt bike...lol.

I auditioned the Rotel and Denon today at a local HT store. I loved the sound of the Rotel, but lacked the additional features that I would like to have in the HT room. I think I may swing the 4306. What is the average cost of one of these units? Anyone heard of any HDCP errors? Thanks all

It looks like the 4306 runs $1400 - $1900 depending on where you buy. I can't answer your ? about HDCP errors.

Sounds good. I just hope the Denon doesn't have any of these HDCP errors like the Yamaha does.

what about a receiver + rotel amp since you like the rotel sound.
what feature does the denon have that the rotel doesn't?

That would be a huge outlay of money on a high end receiver, wasting the power resources of the Denon. Would you be talking about a two channel, or seven channel power amp?

Are you having HDMI problems with your cable box and the 2600 or your actual display and the 2600? If its the cable box, here is why:

Otherwise if you are experiencing HDCP issues, check to make sure your display is HDCP compliant, otherwise most receivers with HDMI interfaces won't function properly with your display.

That's very subjective, right? :D

How do you know the Yam is causing the errors? What happens when you bypass it with HDMI? Maybe that is what you need to do. And if you have multiple sources, a switcher might be a much less expensive alternate?

Or, as gene suggested it might be your TV or cable box, not the receiver. Need to check out all the problem causing areas first before blaming the Yam.

I know the Yamaha is causing issues because when I use an HDMI to DVI cable to my Toshiba DVI-HDCP compliant input, I get a HDCP error when just going to the Yamaha's GUI, with nothing video wise plugged into the back of the Yamaha. It just kills me.

I can't afford to buy a nice receiver and a Rotel Amp :-(. The wife would kill me. I figure since my HDTV is a Toshiba 51H83, purchased in 2002, it should still be HDCP compliant as it says in the manual. Any thoughts?

I was actually thinking, mid end receiver with a 2/3 channel amp.
but I don't know his exact requirements in a receiver.
