Any feedback on this amp would be appreciated. I am seriously considering it's purchase. Thanks

appears to be popular, but there also appears to be several complaints about the channels dying thus requiring owners to send the unit back to rotel for repairs.

I'm not much of a fan. In my opinion, Rotel amplifiers dont sound any better than most upper level receivers. I'd rank them with Adcom at the bottom level of seperate amplifiers. I suggest looking for Parasound HCA-1500As for 2ch or 1205As for 5ch. They have the performance of the current Halo amps, and you can pick up used models for just a few hundred dollars.

There was some problems with the internal fuses blowing. I owned a 1080 for about 6 months. I bought it brand new and after 2 weeks the right channel fuse blew. It was repaired and I had no other problems after that.

I have had my Adcom 7605 for a while now. I would agree that they are a lower class amplifier, but they have a huge bang/buck factor. I am quiet satisfied with it's performance and reliability. A Rotel of equal performance would cost a great deal more.
Adcom-made in the USA
Rotel-made in Korea

Haven't had any listening time whit the rotel , i do have an Adcom GFA-7700 and at 175 watts per channle it sounds great. I haven't done much two channel with it yet untill I replace my front speakers. Jeffs Sound Values has good prices and MArk is great had my amp in three days .Check out jeffssoundvalues.com .

How much is that amp? How many channels of amplification? If it is more than $180-$200 per channel, you may want to consider the Behringer A500 discussed in another thread.

I have had Rotel for separates for 5 years or so, and actually just sold them to get a home theater setup instead of the 2 channel. I very much liked the sound and quality, never had a problem. I just got a Denon AVR 3806 and the Rotel sounded better and had a more full sound and more/tighter bass. Dont get me wrong, the Denon sounds good, but the sound quality of the Rotel separates was excellent. My amp was an RB-1070, which was 130w RMS by 2. I haven't personally owned a 1080 or had much listening time, but will definitely vouge for the brand.

why did you sell it?
I decided to change up my HT. I sold off evrything thing and basicly started over. It worked out good because Rotel has a good resale value.
