Cirrus Logic's CS49400, a 32-bit digital signal processor, decodes surround formats like Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS ES (matrix and discrete), DTS 96/24, and DTS Neo:6. The CS49400 even has the number-crunching ability to process Rotel's own 7.1-channel Extra Surround mode for enhanced enjoyment of virtually any source. And, of course, HDCDc and MP3 capability, too.

HDMI Upgrade (NORTH AMERICA ONLY):
There is an optional upgrade available for the RSP-1098 to add HDMI switching capabilities to the unit. The upgrade replaces the S-Video board on the RSP-1098 with an HDMI board that contains 3 HDMI V1.1 inputs and 1 HDMI output for video switching. Please note this upgrade will only provide HDMI video switching, and does not support HDMI audio nor will analog video inputs from composite or component video upconvert to the HDMI video output. This upgrade is available for $300 for parts and labor. The unit must be sent in to Rotel for this upgrade, which will include the installation of the HDMI board as well as a complete update of the unit with all factory updates and software.
