I just purchased a pair of Paradigm Studio 100 v.3 speakers and Rotel 1067 receiver. The receiver produces fairly loud crackling and sometimes popping sound frequently, especially when the unit is warm. I am returning it for a new one but really concern that these distortions had caused permanent damage to the speakers. Is there something I can do to verify that no damage has been done to the speakers? or should I bring the speakers back to the dealer as well? Please give your advice.

Thanks,

Tran

I had a 1056 that had this same problem. I started a thread over at htguide under club rotel that is named RSX-1056 - Occasional snap sound through speakers?? There are also several other threads there regarding this popping/snapping issue. I complained to my local retailer who told Rotel about the problem and they consulted with the plant in China. It seems to supposedly have been a bad resistor and the have a fix or can swap for new ones that don't have the problem. I returned mine and bought a Pioneer 56TXi because they told me it could be 3 months before they had a fix. As for speaker damage, it is possible depending on volume settings.
