What does the 1057 have over the 1055? I can get a 1055 real cheap.
The 1057 (and 1056) fixed some sort of bass management issue that the 1055 was prone to, I also understand that the 1056/57 up-convert video to the onscreen display, so you can run component video to your monitor regardless of what the source is (the 1055 will not convert a video signal, if it goes in as S video, it comes out as S video). I also see where the pre-amp section is described as "better", but no details are available.
The biggest downside of the 1055 is that they come with the dreaded 969 remote unit. You will spend a few hours of your life cursing all those who had a hand in its design.
I have a 1055. It has been demoted to the bedroom, but I have no complaints about the music it makes. Depending on what "real cheap" means, go for it.
