room size question

My living room is total 25'Lx15'W. My viewing couch is 12.5" away from the screen. That means 12.5' left behind the couch. Ceiling is 7'. There is one open area to the dining room left of the front sound stage. Would "you" say this is a small/medium or medium size room? Also, any comments on such a low ceiling height would be appreciated.

In all seriousness I would say that's a medium/large room. because of the extension back. However many living rooms are this way. But I still think the room can be filled with reasonable volume. I would suggest a pair of subs even at the expense of one big sub. I've done significant reading on this topic and it seems most folks get the best curves from multi subs system even if the subs are weaker.

Still. Find the best speakers you can and then make them work in the room.

Thanks for your reply! I was thinking similar. I have what I think is a great sub. Velodoyne....a 3750. Bass is awesome!!!! Wifey is not down w/ floorstanders. I am looking at Paradigm Cinema 330 and Klipsch Quintet SL wall mounts. I am also looking at dipole surrounds to fill space. It is funny because my wife and I both think that my old and really small panny plastic single driver speakers sound pretty good. Her thing= why fix it if we like it? My thing= imagine what it could be?

The general starting point for listner's position in a rectangular room would be 38% of the length (doesn't matter from front wall or back). Can you scoot either forward or backward 3 ft? In any case, the exact midpoint is the least desirable (outside of being next to an actual boundary). Hey, your display will look bigger if you scoot up too.

I am a fan of Panasonic product, except for things audio. You have no idea, man. I love their irons, fax machines, telephones, tv's, bluray players, etc, but not their audio stuff! YMMV . . .

As mentioned, sitting at the half way point is not a good thing.
As for liking the speakers you have is only good until you hear something better.

Case in point, an old army bud came to town for a few days this past week. He has Polk, which he likes, (which I recommended about 6 years ago) due to being fairly good/price and their availability, considering where he lives. As I didn't figure he'd ever find the JBLs I first recommended, the ones I have.

But having now heard the two systems I have, all high end JBLs, plus having rooms that are much better suited for music and HT, he is now back home and is going to do some tweaking to his speaker placement and room, in hope of getting at least a bit of improvement.
My room is both wider and longer than his, plus my system is completely symmetrical. Which was his main problem, having the speakers crowded to one side, due to a doorway.
He wished he had room in his plane to take home my speakers.
