Room dimensions, which sub?

I have a room which is 16' by 16', with a 12’ Cathedral ceiling. I would like a Sub to fill this room up with bass. Now here is the kicker, I can’t spend anymore than about $350, maybe $375. I would like it to go pretty low at least 30 hz, lower would be cool but it may be hard because of the price. Let me know your ideas.

If you can stretch it to $375, you migh as well save another month to ~$450 and get an SVS PB-10, which should knock you silly in a room that size. That will get you 18Hz and a ton of output.

Next I'd say look at the HSU STF-2, which is right at the $399 point. Not as deep, but just as much output.

Options...

A couple of weeks ago I did some research and got some feedback in the link here you may want to take a look at. All but one listed fall into your price range. The Dayton Titanic might give you the biggest bang of these, but is also right at your limit, whereas some of the others may be enough for you w/out getting to that point.

In addition to the ones I'd listed, the HSU STF-1 would also fall in your price range. I agree with J that an SVS PB10 would be all you'd need, but being $429 w/o shipping is a bit out of your price range.

One other option is to consider used on Audiogon, eBay or any for sale on several home theater forums. I've gotten several HT components used and had great luck w/them... -TD
