Room correction with Classé Sigma SSP: so many things to mess with!

Hi there,

First of all, my apologies if this has been answered before, feel free to scowl at me and point me to the right thread. ;)

I recently acquired a Classé Sigma SSP, which I really like, and I'm starting to think about messing with the awesomely advanced settings and now comes the scary part, I don't understand half of what those settings mean.

Is there a good resource somewhere that explains the technical aspects and meanings of the different settings.

I'd also love to see what people use for measuring hardware and software.

Thanks!

Room EQ Wizard, a measurement program, can be downloaded for free at the Home Theater Shack forum. You’ll also need additional hardware such as a calibrated measurement mic.

This Forum is a good source to learn what all that technical stuff means, but we’d need to know what “half” it is that you’re confused about. A link to an owner’s manual would be helpful as well.

Thanks Wayne and you're right, I should be a bit clearer…

So, I did download REW (and used it to assign levels to the different channels) and I have a calibrated measurement mic (Dayton Audio UMM-6) which I used for some testing and to play with Dirac's room correction (which is impressive by the way).

Now, the Sigma SSP has a 9 band per channel parametric EQ…

Here is the manual: http://www.classeaudio.com/pdfs/Owners_manuals/Sigma-SSP_ENG.pdf
Page 42 shows the settings.

In short: per channel, there are 9 assignable filters with assignable "center frequency", gain, and filter Q. I think I understand what the first 2 mean but the last one is not clear to me. I also a little unclear as to where to start and where to go from there. ;)

Cheers,
Alex.
