I am currently using a Marantz receiver as a preamp driving a large external Parasound amplifier and high-end ATC speakers. For 2 channel music I use a Behringer DEQ2496 with excellent results. I am looking for a six channel solution, however.
I like my DEQ2496 implementation because it is doing all the processing in the digital domain. I would hate to add two more DEQ2496's between the preamp and amp because its would have to go though additional A/D and D/A conversions.
Do the room correction features in receivers such as the Denon 3805 operate in the digital domain? I am thinking about getting a receiver that has built in room correction and supplementing that with a Behringer DSP1124P for fine tuning the EQ on the subwoofer. I don't care about equalizing the sub in the analog domain because we all know what kind of distortion a subwoofer can be fed before the distortion is audible.
I saw somewhere that the room correction in the Denon 3805 doesn't work when using an external amplifier. Can anyone verify this? Does this apply to all Denon receivers?
Also, can someone post their subjective opinion of the music playback when using Denon room correction (I have read the AudioHolics review).
Thanks!
