Roku m1000 wired setup

Due to me being a sucker for open items at Best Buy, this past weekend I bought a kitchen stove. Now I know this isn't the proper forum for that so I'll get to the point. With the stove I got a $200 gift certificate which I converted into a Roku m1000 DMR. Now from what I've heard this unit isn't quite as good as a squeezebox, but it works (I hope). Since I do not have a network set up I have optioned to do the direct wired set up using a Cat5e crossover cable which I just purchased online. It won't be here for a few days so I don't have any problems yet but I see very little info on the Rokulabs website forums relating to this setup and it has me a little worried. Also I just updated to WMP11 which self contains Window Media Content Server that supports Roku. What other problems should I look out for? I hope to plug and play but I'm not a network guru to say the least.

If the Roku has an ethernet port and you use a xover cable there shouldn't be any problems. I don't own one so don't know anything about how you configure it to find your music but you will most likely have to enter the IP address of your computer directly.

If you can't specify a numerical IP in the Roku and it uses ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) to broadcast for the IP of your computer then you will have to add an entry to the hosts file on your computer that specifies its name and IP address.
