Many in Florida and Arizona were concerned when Tweeter took over Sound Advice and Showcase, product lines that had been a staple were droped for private lable, high margin products. A deadly deal with monsterTM. Loss of focus on the CI portion of their offering. Products like ipods, kloss radios, and many more like them took up showroom space. How did big boxes ideas trickle in to a speaciality retailer:mad: .... interesting reading

It really hurt down here in SW Florida (as I'm sure in many other locals). Now as far as showrooms, you have two choices...

1) Best Buy - someone please shove a lit roman canle into my eyesocket.

or...

2) Ultra High End Shops - If you income is not well into the seventh, maybe eighth digit catagory don't bother stepping foot through the door. They are going to try to do to you what inmates do to the "new fish" in prison.

Hello internet!

Good read. Sad but good.

Having to satisfy investors almost always goes against a "slow and steady growth". They grew too fast and too big. If they would have just stayed in the northeast things could have been much different.

I really liked Showcase here in AZ, because the staff here knew alot more than Best Buy. I actually gota great deal on a misprinted ad (how I was introduced to Showcase. They had an ad for a Pioneer Elite 58" HDTV for 1099.00 (total bait and switch to get you in the store) well I called them on it, the called BBB and state Attorney General on the bait and switch and the owner of Showcase called me five weeks later and made me an offer to drop my complaint and sold me a brand new Pioneer 58" for the advertised cost of 1099.00 he then threw in a five year warranty and free delivery and set-up and basic calibration. I thought since they did come through that I should give them so business and when I could, I did shop there. It was mutually exclusive, they taught me some things and I taught them some things.

Plus it was cool saying "TWEETER!" when someone asked about stores... there's nothing cool about "BEST BUY!" or "CIRCUIT CITY!" etc etc...

Everytime I said "Tweeter" I always thought of some bird sanctuary.

Every time I think of Tweeter, I think of Lilly Tomlin's dream sequence in 9 to 5 where she puts the rat poison in Hart's coffee.

Maybe that's just me...

Anyone know if the remaining inventory has been auctioned off or what happened to it? A couple of stores I know of still had some items I was really interested in, especially if the price was right, and it was getting right when they pulled the plug.
