(CNN) -- Michael Clarke Duncan, nominated for an Academy Award for his role in the 1999 film "The Green Mile," died Monday morning at age 54, according to a representative for his family.

For somebody who could look so menacing, he seemed like a real nice guy when I saw him not acting. I heard about his heart attack back in July, but the prognosis seemed to be OK, so this took me by surprise. RIP Michael.
