Sad news guys,

he passed away at 69, struggling with cancer, after 18 months in a row...
You did a lot Dave! :(

I heard the sad news this morning on the radio, driving to work... I was only once at a concert with David Bowie, but what an experience to hear him live on the Heathen tour, he was among the very few that's even much better live than in studio, it says a lot I think.

Is there any genre, any kind of music that he did not get into? .... His portfolio is just a bunchload of immortal classics.

You will be very missed David Bowie and thanks for the musical masterpieces

RIP Mr. Jones

Man this makes me so sad. I was honored to see him in concert(Glass Spider Tour 1988 at MSG) and boy did he put on a great show and I still say sound wise the best technically sounding concert ever I ever attended. RIP Sir.

A movie he was in, Mr. Rice's Secret, remains one of my favorites and a good one for young kids to watch.

Though his role was a little weird in Labyrinth as the Goblin King, it is one of my favorite movies. He performs much of the music in the film. Very kid friendly too.

From the Wiki:

On 10 January 2016, two days after releasing the album Blackstar on his 69th birthday, Bowie died from an unspecified form of cancer at his New York home. He had been diagnosed with the malignancy eighteen months earlier. Belgian theatre director Ivo van Hove, who worked with the singer on his Off-broadway musical Lazarus, explained that Bowie was unable to attend rehearsals due to progression of the disease. He noted that "Bowie was still writing on his deathbed, I saw a man fighting. He fought like a lion and kept working like a lion through it all." Bowie's producer Tony Visconti wrote:

He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way. His death was no different from his life – a work of Art. He made Blackstar for us, his parting gift. I knew for a year this was the way it would be. I wasn't, however, prepared for it. He was an extraordinary man, full of love and life. He will always be with us. For now, it is appropriate to cry.

I've listened to Bowie since the early 70's. One of my favorite performers. Only seen him once 9/18/1987 at the Orange Bowl when I lived in Miami Beach. It was the Glass Spider Tour, great show. RIP David.

Last photo of Bowie taken for a promotional for his last album two days before his passing.

I also read where NASA acknowledged his passing with a tweet. If you search on the web, you can find a Canadian astronaut singing Major Tom while on the international space station. His death really bums me out.

must see TV ... right? Bowie is in one of the episodes and this new HBO series, looks very promising ... produced by Mick Jagger & Martin Scorsese with Bobby Cannavale in the lead role.
