Hi all,

In the article http://www.audioholics.com/tweaks/do-it-yourself-diy-topics/home-theater-prewire-basics/selecting-the-correct-wire.htmlon this site, it mentions using RG6QS for do-it-yourself subwoofer cables.

I am wondering about the actual quality of this cable. I have the tools and supplies to make it, but do not mind speanding a few bucks to go and buy a factory made one.

I am asking as I am just in the wiring stages of a basement reno of which one of the tasks is a home theatre area. I have read much about the conceptions and mis-conceptions of the cable industry (pricing, quality, .....) and think it would be great if I could make my own subwoofer cable to exactly the right length I need.

Worth mentioning that the intent of this cable is for in-wall and the RG6QS cable I have on hand is rated for in-wall

Thanks
Michael

P.S. Great site, just stumbled across it the other day and have learned a great deal since. kudos to all!

Sub cable, low frequency, is the easiest to satisfy with most any interconnect cable. Not sure how this cable is different from other RG6 types, but if it is in wall rated, you should be fine, go for it.

The QS means quad shielded. Double Braid Double Foil shielding. It will actually work very well. I recently ran the same type of stuff in wall for my subwoof a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for the input malvado78. The wire has been constructed and it awaiting use when the new home theatre renos are complete. Actually it is a basement reno and I am doing all the audio/video wiring in wall/ceiling to get rid of clutter.

may post a pic or two when done.

Thanks again
Michael
