I hate to admit this, but I really like the Bose V20 system. I am not hard core audiofile, I like sound, noise, music, movies. I like the way the Bose v20 can take my separate components (TV,Tivo, DVD, IPod) and integrate them into their receiver and speaker system and runthe whole thing off an RF remote...

Does anyone know of another receiver system, where I can run everythign through a RF remote?

Im thinkning that the 5 speakers, sub, receiver with RF remote is decent package for $1999. Everyone always says " you can get get better quality speakers for 1/3 the cost as bose, but speaker quality not the issue with me,,I have listened to them, they sound fine,,,I am all about conveniance and if I can be conveniant and save some cash AND get better quality sound,,well thats even better

You can do whatever you want with a remote. Why is RF so important to you? A good uni-remote will do anything you program it to do with the push of one button. When I want to watch a movie I push "watch a movie" it turns on my AVR, sets it to DVD and sets it to surround sound, turns on my TV, sets it to HDMI 1, turns on my amp and starts the movie. If I want to watch TV, I hit "watch TV. It then turns off my AVR and amp, changes my display to HDMI2 and turns on my HD Sat box. This is just an example; you hook the remote to your computer and program it for whatever you want. You can use simple IR repeaters if you need to control from other rooms.

Mid-Fi AVRs have assignable zones so for instance I can hit zone 2 and control everything on my patio. These can be had for as little as 300 bucks and have plenty of power (Yamaha RX659 is a good example)

There are many, many speaker packages that will do circles around any Bose for the same price.

I have had good results with one of the URC remotes with LCD remotes and RF basestation. You can pick up both for about <$100.

The Bose gear is OK it is just way overpriced. Consider picking up a better than average HTIB system for $5-600 for a similar experience as the Bose package. My friend has that perticular system and he ends up using 2 or 3 other remotes for sateilite box, Apple TV, etc. in addition to the Bose remote.
