I have the Avp-a1hd pre/pro and would like to know if it will accept an RF-AC3 signal from a Cld-1750 laser disc player.I can't seem to see an input on the back of the Denon so I thought I would post here in case I have missed something.I thought that for the price I paid for the Denon it might have support for it.I am hoping it does. Thanks to anyone who can help me with this.

Thanks mate,I read that and did not see my Avp there so I guess it does not.It shows the Avp-a1 but not the Hd.I think the A1 is an earlier model than the a1hd.Some folks talk about a demodulator but I don't understand what that is.i will do some more homework.I remember way back when ac3 hit the market and bought a pioneer vsx-d3s receiver which had the Rf-Ac3 input on it and boy it sounded good.

Is yours different from the AVP-A1 HDCI(A)? Is AVP-A1 HD different from AVP-A1HDCI or from AVP-A1HDCI(A)? Confusing! I found a manual for the latter model, no mention of RF-AC3....

Any help in this thread?

As far as I know, the Ci model is available in the USA but not available in Australia where I am based. The Ci designation means "Customer Installer" These models have some extra features that make them suitable to integrate with customer installs. For example automated control via ip or serial interfaces, but there is no reason that the "normal" consumer can't use them too. Some could say it is a higher end model but there is no difference in sound quality in this regard as far as I know. The above info I sourced off the web and also have been in touch with Denon here in Australia.

Yeah, I have a 4512ci so know what it means/does and IME the model either was or wasn't "ci", but yours may be an exception in the naming scheme in that there seems to be just an AVP-A1....

I think in my case, the "a" on the end of the model number means it is an upgraded model.I never really got into what it all meant. When I bought my unit it had the "a" but I know of others that have purchased the same unit as me earlier than me and the model number on the box was without the "a". I believe the 3D upgrade was a seperate upgrade altogether which I had done later again.Great unit though and don't think I could ever sell it anytime soon.I am in the process of looking into the mcintosh MX160 but will still keep the Denon.
