im trying to decide whether or not to get these now or later
ill be getting them through my friend that works at BB
his accommodation price is $199 a piece which is a killer deal
my onkyo is only 75wpc
my question is should i wait because im afraid how long this deal will last
can i make it work?

Buy them as soon as possible (assuming they are in good shape), even if you don't like them you could resell them for more than $400.

The Onkyo will provide ample power for up to medium size rooms and more. Getting more power will smooth off the top end as the tweeters can be a bit harsh with budget gear.

I know if it where me I would keep them, a good reason to get rid of the Bose. Maybe he can sell his friend the Bose.:D

haha yeah he knows nothing about HT
all i have to say is the word Bose and he would be all over it
but why would i ever want to take advantage of my friend like that??? :D:D

WOW!
It really goes to show you the $markup$, if your getting them for $199
MSRP is $998 a pair.
What does you BB sell them for?

That mark up was the main reason I rejected the Klipsch and went for the Polks. I knew that BB discounts were crazy but man... thats a fantastic price. I auditioned the RF82 and liked them quite a bit. Dont you just love those gold woofers?

He is getting by accomodation so it will be directly from Klipsch. When I used to work at BB in college we would get accomodations from manufacturers all the time and sometimes the prices were lower than BB using employee discount.

I just can't believe how cheap BB employees can get these speakers for! Almost makes me want to moonlight there as a part timer and get those discounts... LOL

oh well... I already started my setup and I have no regrets. Enjoy!

I made the mistake of buying RB-61s once. After a few days, the brightness and harshness became intolerable, and I had to get rid of them. Now I can't stand listening to any Klipsch.:(

If you guys think the Klipsch markup is bad, Pioneer Elite plasma is even worse. Depending on the model it can go as high as over 150%. When I used to work there all the people from the HT department had the 720p 42" Pioneer Elite plasmas in their house. BB sold it for $5000 at the time and they were paying $2000 after employee discount. This is one of the main reasons I dislike Pioneer and will never buy one.

When I used to work at a local B&M dealer the Klipsch accomodation pricing for us was better than that one for Best Buy. We could get the RF7 towers ( $1000 each retail ) for about $300. Was over $650 at normal discount ( cost plus 7% ).

They would also run a special where for every $1000 in Klipsch product we sold over a 3 month period, we fax in copies of the reciepts and a form and got $1 credit towards a purchase. I got a set of the promedia ultra 5.1's ( $400 retail ) for about $35 plus shipping. $46 out of pocket.

Panasonic runs an insane accomodation for 2 months every year as well. Get cost on the tv, plus a $1000 mail in rebate. 50" plasma's were going for $1000.
