Hello all, I recently purchased a new home theater system and I am using klipsch rf-82ii for my front LR speakers. I have a Marantz SR5007 and the software automatically set the rf-82s to large. I am wondering if I should set them to small and allow the sub to take over or just leave them as is. Also when i set them to small the cross over is set to 80 but the sub is only at 120, does this mean that the frequencies in-between (81-119) are not being covered in my system? Should i change the crossover on the rf-82s to 120 and leave the sub at 120?

Thanks

Ryan

The sub is likely set to 120hz because one or more of your other speakers are set to 120hz so it goes by the highest one. If it were me, I would set the mains small and let the sub handle the bottom. The specs are quoted as +/-3dB at 33hz which says to me that 33hz is likely -6dB, so an 80Hz x-over is probably fine with them, but you could try lowering it and see how you like it. There will be no gap because as mentioned, one of your other speakers is likely set to 120Hz, which is why the sub is set high.
