I've spent some time listening to the D14. I didn't have the D5 in the room to compare back to back, but my impression is that they have all the qualities of the D5, but with more extension. So similar in fact, that I didn't think it would be an upgrade over my D5 w/sub combination. If you like the Era sound based on the bookshelf versions, you will also like the towers.
They are not very large looking, much smaller than I expected. But they are HEAVY and SOLID when trying to move them. I wouldn't expect any complaints about build quality or cabinet finishes, as with their previous models.
