So, this thread will be my general quick reviews of many items. Mostly A/V and electronics related, maybe throw in a few other items just for the heck of it.

These will be items that I have used extensively and feel that I can sum up with a few sentences. Or, items that I used very briefly and was able to already give a thumbs-up or thumbs-down with limited time with said gear.

This will be very opinionated (my opinion), mostly brief and to the point, and hopefully a reasonable resource for the type of person that jumps to the conclusion on equipment reviews.

Pio Elite VSX-82txs

Pioneer Elite VSX-82txs A/V reciever:
A few years older, nice receiver, works great and no real complaints. It was one step down from Pio flagship when it was new, has very robust amps, Pio did not fudge the numbers on that at all. Good universal remote.

To nitpick a little: I used to like the piano gloss finish, now I hate it! Matte black is the new gloss black! it can only upscale to 720p/1080i (no 1080p upscale), which is not really much of an issue anymore anyway. Reviews said that it might have a slight hiss on more-efficient speakers, but I have never had this issue. The only real complaint is that it has a steep learning curve.

Goldenear Triton 2 and 50C

I bought the GE Triton 2 before the price increase.

Overall, a great speaker, I really like the built in amps/subs. These work especially well for a 2.0 type setup as you can run them as true full-range speakers. Even though they may not measure the greatest, they are very smooth and detailed in-room. I really like the imaging on these.

The 50C is really a weak link in the chain for HT applications. It works for me because I have limited space for the center. Even GE obviously realized the weakness of their CC offerings and has recently release a real speaker for the center.
