I just set up my Pioneer Elite VSX31 and ran the MCACC program. It indicated all 5 speakers were reversed. Does it matter since all were wired the same?

Are you wiring red to red black to black at both speaker terminal on AVR and speakers? It sounds like you plugged the speakers in wrong, just sayin as I am not there and can't see it I would assume thats the issue.

That's usually because there's usually some phase cancellation in the crossover region of the speakers. As long as you can verify that the woofer cones all move out when you connect a battery to the speaker + terminals, the speaker wires have some way to verify that they're connected to + on the receiver and speaker ends and they're definitely connected that way, they should be fine.
