Ok have been around the site and watching the channel for awhile but just my second posting since I just created an account,.
I have to depart with this Emotiva UMC-1. Has not been great but managed to make it work. Emotiva seems to have left me behind however as far as processors go. I want to upgrade to an 80 Inch Theater TV. I have not decided on which yet
I have been looking around and I see the price on the processors are pretty high so was thinking a decent receiver with pre-outs. I just happen to open Amazon and see this Onkyo RZ730 on deal of the day for $500 bucks. I figure hey if it sucks I can replace my old Sony in my bedroom that is getting pretty near the end. I feel it will be an upgrade regardless. So I got it here now and thinking how I want to do this. I thought I might ask for expert advice as there are things I certainly don't know.
Let me list my amplifiers and I am trying to determine where I should use the Onkyo power vs the Amp power. Many of my amps are old but still sounding good,
Front Emotiva XPA-2
2 Harmon/Kardon Amp 2.0 200w each. One powers my outside speakers via a switch. To me these work well.
Emotiva UPA-1 (Center)
NAD PE-2200 Bridge driving a passive sub. Bought this long ago when in the Army, It powers a home made 12 inch sub,.
1 Active Sub
1 Audio Source Amp 2. Not currently using this but thought I have 6 pairs speakers outside running on a switch I thought I might remove two from the switch
1 Dayton Audio SA 230 Sub amp that powers a outside Sub I created in the ground with a marine Sub.
I guess I should add the speakers.
5.2
Front -AR-9 (not the really old ones but ones from around 2003 I think. Bi Amp capable,. They have good BASS and i set the crossover to 60HZ. However you never know if the old Emotiva is going to actually do what you ask
Center AR-2c Same generation
Rear Infinity tower RS-4 . Old
The two subs
So as you can see its a real mix of stuff and I would like to get height and back speakers and I was thinking of some Bi-Poles of some type. I have made this mix work for me over many years and I am lucky to have a nice shaped room that works well.
Any advice is appreciated.
