Resonance of heat spreader...

My power amps are Mark Levinson 20.6L (mono + mono).
They have 6 heat spreader (sinker? 3 on right 3on right) each.
I feel that heat spreaders resonate.
Please tell me how to stop this resonance.

ML Amp

You have some high end gear. Your ML amp is designed properly with internal and/or external heat sinks. Give the amp some room to breathe (couple inches on each side) and it should be fine, no external heat sinks or "spreaders" are required. If the "spreader" is part of the amp, have a dealer repair it under warranty.

Does the amp even get warm to the touch? My Emotiva amp barely gets warm even with the cabinet door closed driving all 7 chennels.

I think he probably just feels vibration on the heatsinks and wants to stop it. Isolate them from the floor. Thats about it. I wouldnt worry about it though.

Vibration from sound waves (speakers) or vibration from a hum (constant vibration even when no music is being played)? If the transformer is humming the only thing you could do is replace the transformer. When the windings on the transformer get hot the separate little by little and resonate when electricity passes through the copper coils. I would assume the ML's use toroidal power transformers, which are round, and are less prone to this problem.

Replacing the transformer wouldn't be cost effective or necessary on that amplifier unless the transformer went bad.

If I read your model right, these were manufactured in 1993. You might want to have the power amp serviced. You smoothing capacitors might need to be replaced.
