Resident Evil: Afterlife!

Folks, got out to see this film yesterday in 2D. I actually wanted to see it in 3D, but had some friends that were with me did not want to see it in 3D. As such, I went along with them. No need for arguing.

After seeing the last Resident Evil film, I was not expecting too much. To my surprise, this one was actually decent. That is, the audio effects was superb throughout and the video effects were spot on. In fact, the video effects reminded me a lot of the Matrix films that I seen a few years back.

The plot was decent, but lets just say a lot of shooting was a bit unbelievable. At times, Alice's shooting seemed to never miss while her adversaries did. But hey, I guess it is just all part of movie making when there is a lot of shooting involved. However, I found myself liking this film. For example, the "eye candy" sure was nice to look at. Here, I am not talking about just Alice as Claire was fun too look at-WOW!

In short, it is obvious I liked the film. Much better than the last Resident Evil film. From the awesome audio effects to the spectacular video effects to just looking at the eye candy the film kept my attention throughout. Sure, there were some unbelievable attributes that I alluded to earlier, but no film is perfect. With that being said, I am going to give this film a solid B-. It is certainly worth a look.

Cheers,

Phil

Thanks for the review. The trailers look good and want to see it.
I think Alice is just better trained;):D and she has a lots more targets to shoot at than the bad guys do. So, of course the camera only shoots the ones she hits, not the misses in between the bad guys;):D
You see, it has a perfectly good explanation:D

But, let me as you a question as I have not followed these films but heard of them. Is the main character the same in all the movies or just different stories with different characters?

My AV nerd friend really wants to see this because he says that this really is a 3D concept from the word go. I am skeptical, because I didn't think Avatar in 3D was worth it. IMO, my 2D BD blows the Avatar IMAX 3D PQ out of the water. Maybe my mistake was to see it at IMAX, and not at the DLP theater. (IMAX ticket is $18.50, DLP theater is $16, and I think regular theater is like $11?)

The bad guys must have been instructed by Storm Troopers with no jobs once the Empire fell...

Pat, that may explain why their shots miss.........LOL!!!!! :D;):D

So that explains it............but actually there are several verasions of Alice in this one. Not to mention, she actually becomes fully human too. What an interesting concept if you ask me. But your theory still has some merit...........LOL!!!! Go see it I think you will like it. That is, if you are a Sci-fi nut like me.

Hmmmm.......you know Jost your post got me to thinking. Maybe that is why the friends that are with me did not want to go see this film at the IMAX. That is, my friends are just tight wads per se and do not want to spend extra money on seeing it at the IMAX or in 3D. Kind of all makes sense now. Oh well, I am glad I got to see it anyways.

Glad to hear that it is good. I liked the first one, second was dumb, third OK. I think my buddys and I are going to go see this next weekend, possibly in 3D.

Yeah John it is certainly better than the last one. At least, it kept my attention anyways. Wished I could have seen it in 3D, but things go that way sometimes. My guess is, it would be better in 3D as it seemed the film was really pushing those kind of effects. Personally, I thought the audio was superb throughout and spot on. Be sure to let us know what you think once you do see it.

Oh, I am, just selective at times. This looks very interesting on the trailers so I just need to make time;)
I see. It is an interesting film if you can get past some of the typical "Hollywood" if you will. Once I did, the film turned out better than expected. Thus. I was not expecting very much given the last one was not very good. When you do see it, be sure to share your thoughts.

My buddy hasn't seen any of them and he said he really liked this one. I really enjoyed it also. The 3D effects were well done and I liked that they better incorporated elements from the games. Thumbs up for a fun action flick.

Very well spoken John. Glad you liked it. I did as well. Hopefully, the next one will be just as good, if not, better.

Sorry to just now get back to you on this. That being said, watching the ending it becomes quite obvious that there will be another Resident Evil. My guess, it will not be too long off either. Personally, I will be sure to see it once it is released. As far as renting or buying, that is something you will have to decide. Why not just rent it once it is out for rental and see if you like it. If you really end up liking it, then perhaps go buy a copy. That way, if you don't like it, you will only be out a few bucks as opposed to the alternative.

I own the other 3, so I will might pick this one up too when it comes out. It isn't a top teir movie, but it was fun. The 3D added a nice touch so I am not sure how well it will translate to the small screen, but the audio will be fun for home I am sure.

I don't see how this movie could be any less than an A+.:D

2 babes + audio/video delight = A++++++++:D

When it comes to movies, one of the most important questions I ask myself is, "would I watch this movie again?"

And the resounding answer is absolutely, positively, HELL YES I would watch this movie over, and over, and over again!:D

It works out great.

Now you have an excuse to see it again in 3D.:D

Kind of like Avatar. You just have to watch it in both 2D & 3D.:D

Very good point. Funny thing is, I ask myself the same question as you do when watching a film-" Do I want to see this film again? " Most of the time my answer is no. It is only on rare occasions that I say yes to that question. As you mentioned, Avatar was a total yes in my book. Resident Evil: Afterlife in 3D would also be a yes mainly because of seeing it in 2D the first go around. I like how John put it above-"The movie is not top teir, but it sure is fun ". That pretty much sums it up imho.

Great minds think alike.:D

Fun is the key because that is the whole purpose of a movie - to entertain us.:D
