Replacing the 10" woofer in my JBL E150P sub.

I am a little unpleased with the bass output of my current sub. I can buy a Klipsch 10" woofer that came out of a KSW-10 for $40. Do you guys think this will help if I just swapped the woofers out?

If you're on a budget, buy a Dayton 12" for $165 shipped...

Yes you can swap them, but that doesn't mean it will sound better or even good for that matter.

Is that because of the Klipsch speaker itself or the idea in general of swapping speakers?

Not the quality of the drivers, but that the specs of the Klipsch driver may not work with the way the JBL's box is designed. It will work, but whether or not it sounds good is going to be anyone's guess.

IMO, the Dayton subs from www.partexpress.com may do the trick - 300-632 (10") and 300-634 (12"), though they are both only rated to 25Hz, which isn't much lower than the 150.

Can you still return this sub? What did you pay for it?

It's because you're swapping them. The enclosure on your subwoofer, and the amplifer for that matter are designed around the driver. Using a different one than the driver your subwoofer is supposed to have might not have a good effect.

Wow that's a good price for that sub. Unfortunately I think if I buy any more equipment right now my girlfriend/wife will kill me. We are getting married in 7 days and we need money for the honeymoon. Priorities...... I just bought a receiver, rear surrounds, and a Harmony remote. We got money back from Best Buy for a TV we bought about a year ago and that's how I paid for the sub. It was full price. Around $340. Way too much. No box and maybe no receipt. I don't think I could take it back.
