Replacing speakers on HT

I purchased a HT in a box about 6 years ago. The model purchased was a Sony STRK750P. The receiver has been a reliable piece of equipment. However, I would like to improve on the audio output by replacing the speakers that came with the original package.

Is this a good idea and if so what speakers would be recommended to purchase?

The speakers for replacement would be the left and right front, center, left and right surrounds and a woofer.

Please advise.

How much are you looking to spend? What is your room like? What kind of sound are you hoping for? Are there aesthetic or size restrictions on the speakers? That extra info can make recommendations a bit easier.

Mike and Sylvia,

Welcome to the forum. Replacing HTIB speakers is a very good idea and the one upgrade which will give you the most perfomrnace increase for the dollar.

As others before me have said, you need to help us out and define the room, budget and any limitations before any solid advice can be given.

Look forward to hearing more about your project.
