Hey,

I'm replacing a Pioneer vsx-81txv and need some advice.
I need something that'll be compatible with an iPod Touch 2G.
The vsx-81txv has an "ipod" hookup but blanks the screen
on the touch, and forces me to use the tiny display on
the amp... no good.

I'd like something "decent" that's under $500... can I get
your advice?

Please post and let me know. Also, what's a good price to charge
for the vsx-81txv if I put it on ebay?

Thanks!!

The usual suspects include the Yamaha 663, Pioneer 1018, and Onkyo 606. I'm not sure what kind of iPod connectivity each of them have, but all are fine receivers.

not compatible

Unfortunately, I don't believe any of 3 are compatible with Ipod Touch.

Who else has a recommendation to help?

Are your referring to a Luxman?

A Luxman '92 ? Not sure what you were referring to.

Whoe else can help? Need a good amp 500 or under, compatible with an ipod touch.

Thanks

Most receivers in the 500 price range are not going to have native iPod compatibility unless you are running it through a Y-cable. The others like the Onkyo use an iPod dock that is extra and also may have compatibility issues.

The 92 bandfan is talking about is the 92txv the newer model of the 81 you have.

that's odd

Thank you for the clarification re: the 92txv...

That's really odd that I'm having such a hard time finding native ipod
compatibility for sub-500 amps. I can plug my ipod touch 2G right
into my car with a $3 cable and it works perfectly. I was just
hopping to find something that'd let me do that at home,
and still maintain my display on my ipod.

Anyway, I appreciate the replies. Whoever's got any more
insight, please post it! Thank you.

Just to clarify what I meant by native. I was meaning that you would get an interface through your display to control your ipod. Any of the receivers will plug into a y-cable so you can listen to your ipod an use its display to control the music.

I had a 72txv and used its ipod cable feature to my ipod mini. It worked great and I wish other companies would offer that control without a dock. I have read about a few issues with the new touch models and older docks and control devices not working properly.

I'm not so sure... not with iPod touch. When you plug in a touch to the pioneer vsx-81txv the display blacks out and will not function.

I'm wondering if this is true for these others as well.
