I am thinking of replacing my current Marantz 7500 with a receiver and separate amp that supports HDMI-1.3. What are my best options without having to get a second mortgage?

thank you

Without knowing the specifics of what you're shooting for, it's hard to give you specific advice. 2 channel, 5 or 7? Are you against used equipment? I'm a little behind on the reciever stuff, so I will let the more up to date members comment on that part. You can find some great deals on used equipment on the classifieds on this forum or on sites like audiogon. If you really want to maximize your performance to price ratio, look into emotiva for amps. Hope this gives you a place to start.

I am looking for 5.1 (7.1 but only using 5.1 speakers out) new equipment, I am in Canada and shipping from the US to Canada would be too expensive (heavy equipment). I got back into home theater hobby a few weeks back. I am pleased with the current setup when playing audio but movies falls short. I am using Analog out from the Blu-ray player but find the base to the rear speaker weak and difficult to control.

What do you mean by this? The base should be coming from the sub.

Do you use the 7.1/6.1 button on the remote?

I get PLENTY of GOOD CLEAN CRISP CLEAR sound from my Marantz 7300 OSE and Pioneer fd51 bluray using analog.

Hi allEars,

I remember speaking to you earlier in another thread.

For a brother Canadian like you, don't look any further than the magnificent Onkyo TX-SR805.

For only $899 cdn, it's a no-brainer. :)

Thanks Bob, have you purchased from this site before. I am going to do some reading on the Onkyo receiver.

No, but it is an Onkyo authorized dealer with the full 2-year warranty.
Very reputable site in Canada, don't fret it.

I personally own the Onkyo TX-SR805, and it is the very best at it's price point in Canada, bar none.

For more info on this exceptional receiver, just look at the 805 thread right here at Audioholics, and there is also a review right here too.

*** Trust me, it is your best bet in Canada, period.
