Replacement for Mitsubishi WS-55513

Long story short after trying to repair the mitsu sears is going to replace it.The price paid was 1600 and this is for my gf parents so they just want a "big tv".

If the lighting conditions in the room are controllable then I would look into Panny plasma screens if it isn't I would check out Sharp LCDs.

You could get a plasma that is okay in a room where light levels aren't controllable but that generally costs a bit more than getting a good LCD which are generally better in a well lit room.
