Replacement for M&K subwoofer

Need advice on reasonably priced Sub to match setup/room and HT/game use (little music, but want clear tight bass).

Room Size: 10wx12lx8h (in attic) w/ half of one side open to hallway and other room (carpeted)
Bad sub: M&K VX-7 - tear around cone, probably repairable, but has other issues - want better sub.
Reciever - Denon AVR-2800 - thinking of replacing w/ Onkyo TX-NR808 or 708 due to power needs for speakers.
Speakers: Wharfedale Sapphire 89s, Infinity Delta Center, Mordaunt Short MS 3.30 for surrounds (yes odd collection).

Wondering about BIC PL-200, maybe consider stretching to eD sealed subs, Emotiva Ultra10, tempted to even consider Epik Legend, but may be too much for the small room. Oddly enough ,the mid-bass on the Wharfedales is very tight even though it is ported - was never quite as impressed with VX-7 as I wanted to be, but after it stopped working, I miss having it work. I need to do lots of other spending so the intro price on Epik Lengend of $499 is the limit I might consider.
really would rather stick to $300 range, but since I keep my stuff for years, I might consider splurging for the Epik (Emotiva Ultra12 not on sale - goes to $599 - not really ready to go that high) . Suggestions on what might best fit in the price range while matching reasonably on the setup I have for HT purposes primarily?

You'd want to take into account total space including anything open to your room.

Total space would be under 1800 cu. ft., so still pretty small.

Was considering BIC H100 due to price ($203 shipped), but with PL-200 at $270 range (all online prices are $329), the Emotiva Ultra10 at $289 shipped looks very appealing.

I looked at size, and the Ultra10 is bigger than M&K VX-7 - others are much larger, so the Ultra10 looks better and better as a reasonable quality replacement. Should be a significant upgrade to the VX-7. Not many reviews on the Ultra10 - anyone using it for HT primarily in a smallish room?

Ordered the Emotiva Ultra 10 - size/quality combination with a reasonable price was the reason.

Feeback...

Having had the Ultra 10 for a long time now, the sub is great.. no problems at all.
Bigger subs would have taken up way too much space!
