Remove grill cloth from Dahlquist DQ-20s?

I recently acquired a pair of Dahlquist DQ-20s, but the grill cloth is an ugly gray color and is awful to look at. It looks like it's from the 70s. I saw a picture where someone had removed the cloth so that just the black grill was visible and they looked much better. Is this advisable or could it potentially change the sound of the speakers? These are high end.

No worries, speaker cloth is acoustically transparent.
If you decide to replace it to keep out the fingers of little children, a web search will get you sites that sell new speaker cloth if you're so inclined.

Thanks for the response. I think I'll just remove the cloth without replacing it since the blak grills look nice and modern.
