Remote Control for Denon 2106

Currently I have a non-working remote control and would like to know if the Univeral Remote MX-600 would be capable of accessing the Setup portion of my receiver. Unfortunately without a remote I can't enter the setup options on the receiver alone so I need a remote that will be able to do this. The current remote is completely inoperable so I won't be able to teach the new remote any of the old remotes functions through the learning method. Also, is there anyway to verify if other remotes would be able to do this sort of function if this remote doesn't have that capability?

If you don't get an answer here, try over at remotecentral dot com or the remote forum at AVS.

The MX-600 has to be programmed directly on the remote, but does have a built-in database. Given that Denon is a very popular brand, it may have fairly full coverage of Denon functions but as always using the pre-programmed database has some limitations - like it may not cover all of the functions you need and even if it does it may put them on buttons where you don't want them.

Personally I would buy a new Denon remote and use it to teach the MX, but there are a few options:
1. Buy a cheap universal like the URC-8811. It it has the codes you need, use it to program the MX. If it does not, check on remote central for device profiles for that remote. You can then load the device profile into the 8811 and use it to teach the MX.

2. Go up the MX line and buy the MX-850. It is programmed via the computer. Once again you can check remotecentral for device profiles for your Denon and program the MX-850. Advantage is that you can then move the buttons around anyway you like. The program that you use for programming the remote can also import codes in a variety of formats such as Pronto and even raw hex codes (which you can find on remotecentral).

So there are plenty of ways to get it done (all very time consuming and complicated!) which makes buying a replacement denon remote all the more attractive.

You might try http://www.replacementremotes.com or even EBay for a replacment remote.

Harmony remotes

All of the Harmony remotes have the ability to download codes from their online database on the website. Some of the models are <$100.
