IMHO, this falls more into the "good woofer" category than the "subwoofer" category. It is not going to cover HT LFE.
For anyone sporting a pair of Infinity R162's or any other under $1000/pr speakers with 6.5 or smaller woofers, I think these will nicely round out the bottom end "for a song" (pun intended).
I own the 12" version of this (SUB R12),and by all appearances, this seems to be a very equivalent, but scaled down version of the same sub.
As such, I would consider it a superior option to the Dayton Audio SUB1000.
Infinity has a reputation for using good drivers and I think the Dayton Audio driver is simply not this good!

Note that the SUB R12 is being sold for $200, which is a great price; however, if I had a budget of $200 for subwoofage, I would take two R10's over a single R12!
