Who is the fortunate staff member that will be testing using Reference System 2?:confused:

That would be Clint. I know Gene is going to be upgrading #1 soon too, so we'll see how that goes as well...

That system is still in a tiny bit of flux, but it truly kicks butt so far... RPG Diffusors is sending me some absorption and diffusion products that should improve it quite a bit from where it is currently.

Upgrading is quite an understatement. My builder is nearly complete on my new home which has over 10k feet of a/v cable run to support 3 complete home theater rooms, distributed home audio as well as front yard and back yard with subwoofers!

Now i have to figure out how they will terminate 24 10AWG speaker runs, 30 COAX and 10 ethernet in this 14x18 panel in my primary home theater room by next week :rolleyes:

actually I am going with RBH's new Status line. My head is still spinning from the demo I had during my visit to them.

In my family room system I am using RBH LSE products with the Axiom EP500 and in my bedroom system I am using all RBH MC inwalls, including subs. Outdoors in front will be some rock style speakers and backyard likely Klipsch.

Inwalls in other rooms are still up in the air at this point.

:eek: I guess it's a little late for a larger panel? How about an external sub-panel over the opening? That's one load of cable for that small panel. GOOD LUCK!

oh and i forgot to mention 2 HDMI cables. Yea I was thinking about having them build a wooden frontpanel that protrudes slighly but also has ability to be readily opened incase I need to make changes or fix a faulty termination. In any event, my electrical subcontractor told me they could run all of this cable in 1-2 days max and 3 months later they finally got it right and it only took them 3 attempts ;)

I am hoping for a much smoother process in terminating all of this stuff otherwise I will be enjoying condo living for longer than I expected :rolleyes:

There are many options available for a low-profile externally mounted panel that will mount over the hole. You can cut the back out of it and use one with a hinged front panel for easy access. The other nice think is you can use the back side of the door an the cabinet to organize the cables with Panduit raceways (http://www.panduit.com/products/). Your residential electricians probably won't know where to find this type of panel. They are mainly used in the industrial or large telecom applications. A local control panel manufacturer could help out.

You've gone this far to build a beautiful system. What's left is the stuff people will see. This is where quality and planning counts.

Stupid question - Did you run conduit for any of your runs? I ran one 2" for the projector and now I wish I would have run more conduit throughout the house. (hindsight is 20/20)

Major;

thanks for the link. I will look into this option.

yes I ran 3" conduit for the projector and have a pull string to add more cable but right now it has 2 HDMI, Component Video, and 2 CAT5e runs. I dont envision needing more but you never know.

When all is treated and finished, would you be prepared to post the room's full range and low frequency response? I'd be really interested in seeing it.
