Greetings to all,

We're offering new amps based on ICEpower technology. Our first amp is the sa1000 and as the name states produces 1000watts x 2 into 4ohms (600watts x 2 into 8ohms). These will be ready in about 5 weeks.

We will eventually have the sa250, the sa500, an integrated and a preamp later on down the road.

Take a look at our site: www.RedDragonAudio.com and if you have any questions, please email us at: info@reddragonaudio.com

Thanks!
Pretty impressive power. Why the departure from Bang and Olufsen? How are you getting the voltage to the unit? Would a typical house A/C 120 be sufficient? Do you have full specs on this unit, and can you supply Audioholics one to test when they are ready? I am assuming this is a class D amp (or ICEpower - whatever that means), based on it's weight of only 23 lbs, correct? Here's some limited specs from the site for our members:

◄sa1000►
1000Wx2 @ 4Ω & 600Wx2 @ 8Ω †
XLR & RCA inputs ††
Extra heavy duty gold plated binding posts
Silver-plated Copper internal wiring with Teflon coating.

115V or 230V operation. Please specify when ordering.
16.5" x 5" x 14.5" (WxHxD), 23lbs

Hi Buckeyefan,

The power is impressive and more information is available from B&O's ICEpower website where they have full white papers as to its performance specs. Your house outlet is fine to supply power to the amplifier. www.icepower.bang-olufsen.com

We're using the 1000ASP ICEpower modules which are "Class D" ampilfiers with their own switching power supplies which is exactly why they only weigh 23lbs.

I will be sending a review unit to Audioholics later this year when they have all their new test equipment ready to roll. Gene DellaSala has already contacted me about testing and reviewing the unit. I'm very eager to have the Audioholics gang scrutinize this amp as I want feedback about its performance. I've been mulling around on Audioholics for a while now and I highly respect their forms of testing and reviewing components. They offer a very honest and detailed review which I find is useful for the consumer. Which is basically what I am in the end but I happen to produce amps too. ;)

Sorry I was a bit late responding to your post; I was away at a family wedding this past week and before that in NY for the HE2005 show. That's really no excuse is it. ;)

Anyway, I hope to get feedback from folks here as well as other audio forums and I am delighted to answer all your questions to the best of my ability. Please contact me directly if you wish: info@reddragonaudio.com

Regards,

Ryan Tew

BTW, pretty reasonable pricing compared to other ICE & Tripath amps. The casework looks really cool, too. :)
