Has anyone watched this in the theaters? I wonder how it compares to the first "Red"

Sounds like a rental, but reviews indicate that it is good; just not as good as the first. I liked the first one, so I'll definitely rent this one.

The review is out and it looks pretty favourable... not as good as the first but it comes close..

I just watched it yesterday. I definitely didn't think it was as good as the first, even with the cast. It was watchable though, with a few good laughs. One thing I felt was that it was a little choppy just to get all the big names an appropriate amount of screen time, kind of like those Valentines Day and New Years movies, although this involves fights, guns and explosions so it's a lot more enjoyable than those movies. Malkovich is still great IMHO, but the rest of the storyline and plot can get a little stale at times.

Pacing was definitely the main issue, and definitely not as good as the first, but not bad. The story was relatively predictable, yet I wasn't disappointed. I didn't think the first one was a great movie either, but they were both entertaining for what they were.

I watched it this past Friday evening and despite being sick with a sore throat and partial laryngitis, I died laughing where my wife told me to keep the racket down. This film had me in stitches from the opening scene at Costco. I'm so glad I bought the Bluray. I would say that this film although not as good as the first is still a must purchase. It kept me entertained.

It's a renter. It tries very, very hard but it's nowhere as good as the original. We need more Helen Mirren and her Russian boyfriend.
